This wine is vibrant and red-fruited on the palate with flavors of cherry and black plum, contrasted by notes of tobacco, graphite, and black pepper with herbal undertones. Bright, juicy acidity is balanced by fine-grained tannins. Medium-bodied with a long finish. Delicious now, but the acidity and structure will reward cellaring for a decade or more.
Estate
Multiple picks were made at a range of 22.5 to 24.5 Brix. The grapes were completely de-stemmed and underwent native yeast fermentation in stainless steel tanks. Native malolactic fermentation occurred in barrel and the blend was assembled shortly after to encourage integration of tannins and flavors. The wine was aged for 18 months in 40% new French oak and filtered at bottling.
